Meesho's label file is built for an ordinary office printer: an A4 page with several labels on it, meant to be printed and cut apart with scissors. That works on day one. By the time a seller ships fifty orders a day, the scissors are the slowest part of the whole routine, and a crooked cut through a barcode is a parcel the courier cannot scan.
A 4 x 6 thermal printer fixes that, but only once the file has been turned into one label per page. This guide covers how.
Why the file will not print as it is
Send Meesho's A4 file straight to a thermal printer and one of two things happens:
- The printer shrinks the whole A4 page onto one 4 x 6 label, so every label is tiny and the barcodes are too small to scan.
- Or it prints the top left corner of the page at full size and cuts the rest off.
Neither is a printer fault. The printer is doing what it was told; the file is the wrong shape. No driver setting turns one A4 page into several 4 x 6 labels, so the file has to be cropped first.
Step 1: download the labels from Meesho
In the Supplier Panel, open your orders that are ready to ship and download the labels the way you normally do. Keep the file as Meesho gave it. Do not print it to PDF again or open and re-save it in another app, because a re-saved file can lose the sharp edges of its barcodes.
Step 2: crop it to one label per page
Open the Meesho label crop tool and drop the file in. It finds each label on each page and makes a new PDF with one 4 x 6 label per page, in the same order. The file is read in your browser and is not uploaded anywhere.
Check the first two or three pages of the result before you print the whole batch. Each page should be one full label: the address, the courier's barcode and the return address, with nothing cut off at the edges.
Step 3: set the printer up once
These settings are the same for every marketplace, and you only set them once:
- Paper size 4 x 6 in (or 100 x 150 mm) in the printer's own settings, portrait.
- Scale 100% (Actual size) in the print box, never Fit to page.
- Margins None.
If anything still comes out shifted, faint or with blank labels between the printed ones, our thermal printer setup checklist walks through calibration, darkness and gap settings.
Step 4: print a test, then the batch
Print one label first and scan its barcode with your phone's camera or any barcode app. If it reads, print the rest. If it does not, the problem is almost always scaling (go back to 100%) or darkness (raise it a step).
Habits that save time every day
- Download once, after the day's orders are ready. Several small downloads through the day mean several files to crop and several chances to print the same label twice.
- Keep the cropped file until the parcels are picked up. If a label tears or a sticker fails, you can reprint that one page instead of downloading again.
- Pack in label order. The cropped file keeps Meesho's order, so you can stick labels on in the order they come out of the printer and check them off as you go.
- Stock spare rolls. A roll that runs out halfway through the evening batch is the most common reason labels go out late.
Doing it without the downloads
If you print Meesho labels every day, cropping by hand is still a daily chore. The Sellerio Seller Toolkit, a free Chrome extension, works inside the Meesho Supplier Panel: it prepares the day's orders, crops each label to 4 x 6 and prints it, with your own SKU on the label if you want it there1. You can also set a daily time so the routine starts by itself3.
